I’ve been working on no foil highlights lately on clients who want soft blended, natural looking highlights. I’m loving this because the result resembles the hair they use to have as children. And we know, children tend to have the best hair color. Some more pics from the balayage I did the other day (swipe to see the before at the end). This was more of a traditional balayage as she is naturally a medium/dark blonde, so I knew she would get bright enough without foils. This is a great way to go blonde if you’re already naturally on the blonde side and you don’t mind gold tones. The grow out is very soft, so while this isn’t necessarily a “lived in” blonde, it’s still fairly low maintenance. 💛

I love a little whimsy during spooky season. I gave her a gorgeous violet brown base color and installed a few magenta and teal k tips to give her color more pop without the damage of bleaching. They will last 3-4 months and are a great alternative to adding vivids to hair 💙💜🖤

My client came in with her natural brown hair and a few greys she was happy to embrace. We added depth with a rich auburn and a few lighter caramel highlights for a soft, dimensional result.

Rather than coloring every strand, I worked with her natural base to create a beautiful, low-maintenance color that she can refresh just 2–3 times a year 🤎

This lovely lady came in for a balayage refresh but had noticed the chlorine in her water was giving her hair a greenish cast. Luckily she has since changed her water filter but I had to carefully remove the mineral build up while transitioning her blonde to something more low maintenance. If you leave some depth at the roots, you can still have bright blonde like you see here. She’ll be good for 3-4 months. It’s worth the 4 hour session to have less frequent salon visits. I know I’ve been feeling discouraged lately, but I’m hanging in there. I’m reminding myself that figuring things out takes time, and I trust that I’ll make the decisions that are right for me and for the long run.

In the meantime, I’m going to keep doing what I love—creating beautiful, dimensional, lived-in color and helping my clients feel like their best selves. 🤍

The last few months have been a season of rebuildi

The last few months have been a season of rebuilding. After moving to a new town, I’m once again growing my clientele from the ground up—something I’ve done several times throughout my career. I know it takes time, but I also have to be realistic.

Over the next five weeks, I’ll be deciding whether I can continue in my current studio before committing to a new lease. I truly love the space I’ve created, but I also have to make a practical decision based on how my business is growing.
